The Story So Far...

Basement Books has been in Sydney in one form or another for over 10 years. Originally located in the Queen Victoria Building, Basement Books quickly found success with its friendly service and discount prices. Such was the demand that trading hours were soon extended and a second store was opened in Hunter Street for the benefit of all the book lovers looking for a bargain.

After being at these locations for 9 months an opportunity to merge the two shops into a single larger discount shop proved irresistible. The customers of Basement Books were presented with 1000 square metres of discount book-love at the new store at World Square. During its existence there on the corner of George and Goulburn Streets the store's popularity only seemed to grow, and after 2 years it was time to seek a more permanent location.

Since 2004 we have been conveniently situated near Central Station in the Henry Deane Plaza. Hidden in the pedestrian tunnel under the Medina apartments some consider our store hard to locate, but once discovered first timers soon find themselves returning to browse our ever-changing range. Our reputation for value and variety continues to motivate bargain hunters to seek us out.

In 2009 we celebrated out 10th Birthday and now we have expanded onto the internet!
